Houston IAH Airport facts and information
The George W. Bush Intercontinental Airport (IAH) in Houston, Texas, is the second largest airport in the State of Texas, after Dallas-Fort Worth International Airport. And 'the Airports Council International in 2008, ranking as the 16th busiest airport in the world, with nearly 42 million passengers last year. Named after the 41th president of the United States, George W. Bush IntercontinentalAirport is one of three airports in the country named after a living person, the other two are Ted Stevens International Airport in Anchorage, Alaska, and Norman Mineta International Airport in San Jose, CA.
IAH was opened in June 1969 and was originally the name of the Houston Intercontinental Airport. E 'was originally scheduled for early in 1967 but was delayed because of changes in the design of the terminal, which has led to cost overruns and a law suit original contractors, RF Ball Construction. If not opened two years later, the passenger traffic from Houston William P. Hobby Airport was moved to Houston Intercontinental. IAH has had its current name in 1997.
